QUICK TRAVEL CHECKLIST FOR FRANCE & SPAIN

for Visa free travel you can stay in the Schengen zone for a maximum of any 90 days over a period of 180 days. The 90/180 rule begins on the first day you arrive.

A new 180 day period will begin again, any time you enter the Schengen area after the previous 180 days ends.

Passports must have less than 10 years (this rule applies to passports issued prior September 2018 when extra validity could be added)

Passports must have more than 6 months

 

HEALTH COVER

According to the UK Government if you have an EHIC health card it is still valid if in date

If not you will need to apply for a free GHIC health card from the NHS website

You will still need travel insurance to cover things like repatriation etc

 

WHAT CAN I TAKE IN AND OUT

FOOD - NOT ALLOWED to bring in,  MEAT, MILK, PLANTS or their products.

YOU CAN BRING some processed goods like:

chocolate with high cocoa content, teabags - but not loose leaves, rolled oats, marmite, biscuits,

baked beans. Also bananas, pineapples, coconut and dates, eggs, honey,

 

You CAN also take in POWDERED INFANT MILK, SPECIAL FOODS (for health reasons) & BABY FOODS in sealed branded packs

 which do not need refrigeration. See the EU commission website for more details, though not an extensive list

 

DRIVING YOUR OWN VEHICLE

 you will need:-

* AN INTERNATIONAL DRIVING PERMIT (IDP) in FRANCE and SPAIN if you ONLY have a paper license.

In SPAIN an IDP is not required for under 6 month stays.

* A GREEN CARD from your insurer ....it can take 6+weeks

* UK sticker on the rear of vehicle

 

HIRING A CAR

according to the UK GOV the only thing required is an IDP ....IF you ONLY posses a paper license.

Some hire companies ask to see evidence of endorsements. Go to this site www.gov.uk/view-driving-liscence and print off your page

COVID ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FRANCE & SPAIN

Mandatory proof of full vaccination -

NHS digital pass or printed paper certificate.

 

Information for unvaccinated and children

 

You’re considered fully vaccinated for travel purposes

if aged 18yrs and over and

 

1.    you received a COVID-19 vaccine booster

 

2     you received the second dose of a two-dose vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZenica)

       at least a week ago, but no more than nine months ago.

 

3.    you received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson) at least 28 days ago,

       but no more than nine months ago.

 

4.    you received the first dose of vaccination at least a week before travel AND you

       have previously had COVID-19 (at least 11 days ago and within the last 6 months).

 

Important: If you had your full vaccine course 9 months ago or more AND you haven’t had a

COVID-19 vaccine booster, you must follow the rules for unvaccinated passengers to enter France.

 

 

NOT VACCINATED OR DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE ABOVE RULES

You need  ONE of the following three certificates to be checked

before departure:


1.      A negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before departure, OR
2.      A negative antigen test taken no more than 48 hours before departure, OR
3.      A COVID-19 recovery certificate showing a positive PCR or antigen test result

          within the last 6 months.

Important: NHS tests are not accepted. Your test certificate must be issued by

a private provider and contain the following information: your full name, your

date of birth or age, the sample date, the type of test, the test result, and the

provider's name and contact details
