PUERTO BANUS

Puerto Banus is Marbella's luxury marina famed for it designer shops and restaurants.

Fine sandy beaches are located on both sides of the harbour with something for all age groups.

You can hire water and pedal bikes at the 2 Puerto Banus beaches.

 You can cycle or walk all the way to Marbella. the walk has plenty of excellent cafes and restaurants.

The Museo Ralli just by Coral Beach is free and very much worth a visit with several Salvador Dali pieces

This pedestrian/cycle route is set to extend all the way from Malaga to Gibralter with

many of the stretches already linked up.

Along the beaches if you are lucky you will be able to see some amazing sand sculptors 

at work and admire their masterpieces.

 

Saturday is market day at the Bullring, from early in the morning you can buy designer copies, 

flowers, ceramics and nice craft ware,and clothes plus great for people watching. Lots of cafes offering breakfast and snacks.

Puerto Banus boasts a muli screen CINEMA, Reddog Cinema with the latest movies in English

3hrs free parking in Antonio .Banderas underground car park.

There are ferry boat trips during the summer months going to the marina in Marbella and back. 

The last boat returns at around 6.30pm. They run from Easter to November www.fly-blue.com

MARBELLA 5 minutes drive

5 minutes drive or a scenic boat ride from  Puerto Banus is the town of Marbella. Marbella`s seafront promenade is arguably the best on the Costa.

Visit the historic Old Town with its labyrinth of flower decked alleyways where shops, restaurants and homes mingle. Here you will find the 16th century Town Hall, charming Church square, and Plaza Los Naranjos where you can dine under the shade of the orange trees. The tourist information office is located on the square.

Monday is market day, it is a short walk from here to the seafront. To the east along the promenade by the Port is a great beachside seafood restaurant offering freshly prepared catches of the day.

GOLF

The apartment is surrounded by the famous "Golf Valley " courses, bordering the complex is a course open day and  night and named after the beautiful night scented flower, La Dama de Noche

A great favourite with guests is Los Naranjos  just 5 minutes drive away. The clubhouse makes an enjoyable lunch venue, Sunday brunch being very popular and excellent value

Exclusive and beautiful Las Brisas 3 minutes away is sometimes only available to the public during the summer months. 

Aloha a popular and friendly course is 2 minutes drive away. The restaurant here is also worth a visit with a charming terrace overlooking lovely views

 La Quinta is on the Ronda Road out of San Pedro is a 20 minute drive away, it has very good clubhouse and facilities.

TENNIS

The friendly Manolo Santana club less than 10 mins away from the apartment

Manolos club is located just to the rear of the complex. It is very friendly and encourages all ages, singles and families. For visitors there are regular mix in sessions.

Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays 10am to midday. Just turn up and play.

There are Sunday lunches organized with varied excellent entertainment on the sunny terrace with great views. There is a well equipped gym, pilates /yoga classes plus a summer kids club. All can be used for day, week or monthly rates

BENAHAVIS 25 minutes away

Benahavis a picturesque mountain village

off the Ronda road has an amazing

number of well established restaurants.

 It is especially popular for Sunday lunch.

The pretty cobbled streets, alleyways and squares make it a perfect place to explore

with lovely views to take in on the way.

RONDA 50 minutes away

One of the oldest towns in Spain, originally the capital of a Moorish

empire, Ronda is famed for its spectacular position overlooking the

dramatic El Tajo Gorge.It is well worth spending a day here, the

tourist office in Plaza de Espana has maps and the opening times

of the sights. It can trace its origins

back to prehistoric times with its rock paintings at the nearby

Caves of Pileta.

During September the bullring considered the best in Spain

hosts a `Goya Festival` when all the participants and audience

don the costumes of Goya` s day. As Ronda is located in the

hills it can be cooler than the coast.

The restaurants serve some of of the very finest fair in Andalucia

MALAGA 1 Hour away

This is the major coastal town of Analucia, relatively untouched by tourism and the passage of  time.

Plenty of restaurants for all tastes, Bar el Pimpi near the Picasso Museum  has a beautiful inner courtyard and vaults, try the local

speciality "pescaito frito" an assortment of fresh fried fish. 

 

You can park your car and take a train from Fuengirola station to Malaga                 

WHITE VILLAGES

The whitewashed villages of Andalucia are impressive historical monuments and their people still live according to ancient traditions although increasingly those near the coast have become fashionable resorts.

MIJAS ( 20 minutes away) Known for for its hand made pottery and latterly a popular tourist destination.

This well set out museum great for all ages gives an insight into Andalucian rustic life that was the norm until relatively recently.  Entrance free.

Fortress walls, gardens & viewpoint. Beautifully kept gardens at the top of the village with great panoramic views. There is an open air theatre here and in August a theatre festival

ISTAN (20 minutes away) The village is tucked away beneath the Sierra Blanca at the head of the valley of the rio Verde.

There are four à la carte restaurants in Istán, Troyano, El Baron, Rincon de Curro, Entresierras and the new Las Harales in the Rural Hotel.

            DAYS OUT FURTHER AFIELD
 TARIFA - 1hr 20 mins

Located on the Costa de la Luz not far from Gibralter. This southern-most tip of Europe where the Med meets the Atlantic ocean, enjoys spectacular views of the Rif mountains and Africa.

The 10 kilometers of white sandy unspoilt beach attracts nature lovers and is famous for windsurfing.

TARIFA TOWN

This small fishing town was the first point of the Moorish invasion of Southern Spain in AD711. Local fishermen still use the Almadraba method of fishing for tuna their main catch using a circle of boats and nets,

Things to see in Tarifa Town

The pretty narrow cobbled streets of Tarifa old town make a charming place for a stroll. Much of what we see  was constructed in the 18th Century.

Castle of Guzman the Bueno
The Arab Castle is open to visitors.

The Municipal Museum
Well worth a visit. It is located near the town hall in the square officially named Plaza de Santa Maria

Next to the Town Hall (the Ayuntamiento) at the top of the town. Impressive view of Morocco
